This observational research aims to dissect the characteristics, operational mechanisms, and impact of spam websites, a phenomenon that has evolved significantly over the past decade.
Spam websites are defined as low-quality, misleading, or fraudulent sites created predominantly to generate monetary gain through deceptive practices. These sites often employ aggressive search engine optimization tactics to rank highly in search results, misleading users into clicking on them. In this observational study, over 100 spam websites were analyzed, focusing on their common attributes, the tactics employed to lure in unsuspecting victims, and the potential harm they cause to both individuals and the broader internet ecosystem.
